iOS Programming 101 Shout Outs

I’d like to make a shout out to a couple of guys in the class. First, congratulations to the “Fair Tippers” – these guys got the furthest in the in-class challenge related to making a Tip Calculator – Nick Wright, Stephen Flourney, Jim McKeeth, and Eddie Espinal!

In fact, Eddie blew me away by going over and above the exercise – by actually taking the idea for making a tip calculator, and flipping it on its head by making an app that waiters/waitresses/bartenders can use for keeping track of the tips they earn while they’re working!

Eddie actually stayed up late while at the conference working on this app, making a nice polished UI, and even interviewing bartenders at the 360iDev conference to find out what kind of features they’d like to see in the app! He plans to publish the app on the App Store soon.

So congrats to Eddie for achieving Uber Haxx0r level in the class (and winning some free iPhone magnets!) – and keep an eye out for his app! :]

The Cocos2D Book and this Blog

As you may imagine, co-authoring the Cocos2D Book is taking a TON of time. Literally every waking moment type of time :]

As such, I haven’t been able to keep up with the comments on this blog as often as I’d like. But I’m trying my best, and things will get back to normal-ish once we wrap this up.

Speaking of the book, the first four chapters available here (choose the Buy button in the Rough Cuts section) if you’d like to check them out early! We’re aiming to have the rest up there ASAP as well. If you don’t have Safari Books access already, there’s a free trial if you’re interested.

And That’s a Wrap!

That’s all the news I’ve got for now – back to your regularly scheduled tutorials soon! :]
