A while back, I wrote a tutorial on How To Make a Space Shooter iPhone Game.
I had a lot of fun working on that tutorial, so I spend some time extending the game to add some extra cool features like power ups, boss fights, enemies moving along paths, and more.
I asked you guys if you’d like me to turn the code into a full starter kit that you can use as a launching point for a game of your own, and tons of you guys said you would!
Well, you guys asked for it, and you got it!
At long last, the Space Game Starter Kit is complete and available on the new raywenderlich.com store!
Show Me The Video!
If you haven’t seen it already, here’s a trailer for the Space Game Starter Kit:
The coolest thing about the Space Game Starter Kit is not only do you get full source code to this game that you can use as a starting point, but you also get four epic-length tutorials showing you how to build the game from scratch!
This way, you’ll understand the techniques behind the game that you can apply to your own creations, even if it’s something completely different!
Thank You Beta Testers!
Huge thanks to the awesome beta testers for the Space Game Starter Kit: John, Luís, Hugo, Ibrahim, Fahim, Andrew, Nick, David, and Aaron!
These guys were a great help in catching various typos and mistakes in the tutorial so it’s of top quality for you guys!
I asked these guys for some feedback on the Space Game Starter Kit, and here’s what they sent:
"Extremely well written, Space Game Starter Kit guides you in creating a fully functional game in a clear and entertaining. Without a doubt, is one of the best sources of information for all who develop games for IOS, regardless of whether it is beginner or expert." - Hugo Doria
"One of the best cocos2d tutorials I have ever read! I learned a ton and I expect anyone who reads through and types the code will learn a ton also!" -David Johnson, TFWorld Software
"This starter kit is precisely what I was looking for. It contains everything one needs to dive right into programming for the iPhone and iPad, with a ready to test example that is really well commented and ready for future expansion. Having everything available together, the tutorial + source code + resources, has saved me a lot of time." -Luis Felipe Strano Moraes
And That’s a Wrap!
