Let's get this feast started - win a free copy of the iOS Apprentice Complete Series!

Update: Congrats to the winner of the giveaway, jandrad! Thanks to everyone who entered, and don’t worry – there are more giveaways to come (including the epic iOS Feast 5 Feast $600 value grand prize!)

In our iOS 5 Feast celebration, we are having an iOS 5 Tutorial Month where we post a new iOS 5 tutorial every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

“But OMG”, you guys may be thinking, “today’s a Thursday!” Never fear – to help get the feast started with a bang, today we’re going to have a bonus giveaway! :]

In today’s giveaway, we are giving a lucky winner a free copy of the iOS Apprentice: Complete Series written by iOS Tutorial Team member Matthijs Hollemans.

This is a set of epic-length high quality tutorials for beginners to iOS development, or intermediate developers wishing to firm up their foundations. Great for yourself, or for a friend!

Keep reading to find out the iOS Apprentice – and how you can enter!

What’s the iOS Apprentice?

The iOS Apprentice is a series of epic-length tutorials for beginners that each show you how to build a complete app from scratch.

If you’ve signed up for my monthly iOS newsletter, you’ve already received a free copy of Matthijs’s first epic-length tutorial in this series.

Well good news for you – now there are two more tutorials in the series, and the entire series has been completely updated for iOS 5!

The first of the new tutorials is called Checklists and shows you how to make a simple “to-do” app for the iPhone. In the process, you’ll learn about storyboards, table views, navigation controllers, arrays and dictionaries, saving data, and much more!

The second of the new tutorials is called MyLocations and shows you how to make an app that tags photos by location and plots them on the map. In the process, you’ll learn about map kit, Core Data, tab bar controllers, animation, and much more.

My favorite thing about these tutorials is that they are extremely high quality. Matthijs has done an excellent job making these really easy to read and understand, while at the same time digging down into the details you need to know to make real-world apps.

For more information on the iOS Apprentice, check out its store page.

  • Wow, when you say "epic-length" you really mean it, don't you? ;-) Amazing! Finally I have something to give the people if they ask how to start on iOS development. Thank you!

  • Sorry, i don't get it. What do i suppose to do to get the 2nd and 3rd parts of the Apprentice Series? Is it free giveaway? :?

  • Out of curiosity, with the giveaways and then the major prize, will these all be announced before the Tutorial Team PDF is raised in price?

I know it's not much difference in price, but I don't want to buy it and then maybe win one, but at the same time, would rather save some dollars.

    Thanks.

  • Congrats to jandrad, who won the free copy of the iOS Apprentice Complete Series! Thanks to all who entered, and don't worry - there are plenty more giveaways to come, so more chances to win - including the $600 value iOS Feast grand prize which we'll be giving away at the end of the month!

@valshebnik: Part 1 of iOS Apprentice is free, part 2&3 are paid. This giveaway was for the complete series (1-3), which is also for sale on the store here: http://www.raywenderlich.com/store/ios-apprentice

@chrs24: Good point, and that sounds fair. If the rest of the team is OK with it, we will hold off raising the price of iOS 5 By Tutorials until after the iOS Feast giveaway. I can't promise on iOS Apprentice though, that price is scheduled to bump up in about a week.

  • Ok thanks! Maybe just give us a heads up 1-2 days before the bump?
