My wife's new site, with free art & artist tutorials!

Hi everybody, my wife Vicki and I are pleased to announce an entirely new web site for you guys to enjoy – VickiWenderlich.com!

If you didn’t already know, Vicki and I work together on the apps we develop at Razeware. I do the programming, she does the art.

Her specialty is illustration – you can see some of her latest work in Wild Fables.

Anyway, she’s been wanting to have a blog of her own for some time, and she noticed that many beginning iPhone developers have a common problem…

How Do You Get (Free) Art For Your Game?!

As many of you know, when you’re first starting out as an indie iOS developer, often your budget for art is about $0 :]

So a lot of people turn to programmer art (which can be quite scary!) or have to spend hours and hours looking for public domain art you can use online.

So Vicki thought it would be fun to start making some art packs that programmers can use while learning game programming, or while prototyping game ideas, etc.

The art packs are totally free, and just require attribution to Vicki! For an example, here’s an art pack she made for a mole whacking game.

Hence the idea of VickiWenderlich.com was born!

And There’s More!

Vicki’s site also includes tutorials for people interested in learning how to make this art. Some programmers (unlike myself) have an artistic side, if you’re one of these types you might enjoy these!

For example, she recently wrote an Illustrator tutorial on How To Make An Awesome, Easy Eyeball.

Also, she’s hoping to publish a wallpaper on her site every month, just for practice in Illustration and fun. Here’s her May Wallpaper, it’s what I have set on my desktop right now! :]

Check It Out!

So what are you waiting for?! Check out VickiWenderlich.com, and also please follow Vicki on Twitter! :]

We hope you all enjoy her site!
